There've been widespread reports recently - http://www.qatarscoop.com/2017/08/19...tes-execution/ for example - of a man in Saudi Arabia pardoning his son's murderer so that the murderer isn't executed. It isn't clear from reports whether the killer will serve a sentence of imprisonment or be released. Looking around for more information I came across this example - https://callingchristians.com/2012/1...sons-murderer/

Can diyah be accepted in the case of deliberate killing? Can the killer be set free?.
