  • Islam and paying under the table

    :salams

I was wondering if anyone knew what the ruling is on this topic?

I recently got asked by a friend to help out at his car dealership to do some work, as a student I can use for the money, however he's going to pay me on the spot with cash for this job. Is this acceptable in Islam?

It must be noted that it's not lawful in the country I'm living in since they take taxes from your earnings. I'm not sure if the above falls into this category, but was wondering if anyone had any knowledge about this.

    :wswrwb:
To the best of my knowledge and recalling what I had heard in the past about such things, I don't think this is haram nor makruh, as long as consent is given by both parties. But I'm not a scholar so I can't say for certain, I may be wrong, I don't have any useful links as of yet.
Say what somebody can do instead of the haram if you want to help.

The problem would be lying about it if asked.
