    Quran 79:30

I am honestly confused with quran surah 79 verse 30. There r critics that say that the word flat is closest to dahaha, but all the translations say spread out or to extend. Could someone plz answer this question cuz the earth is round.

The false conclusion is example of deductive fallacy due to invalid reasoning.

The invalid reasoning is of the form:

    Earth is spread out.
    Flat objects are spread out.
    Therefore, Earth is flat.

    Elementary logical fallacy (case #1):

Right. For example if I were to take chocolate with a spoon and spread it out on an apple. Then I tell you to look at the chocolate how it is spread out. Just because the chocolate is spread out it does not mean that the apple is flat and doesn't have another shape.

the Root word is: سَطَحَ saTaHa

It means to spread out in this context.
So sutihAt literally means spread out right?

So the quran just says the earth is spread out. Thank u!

    Indeed.

The triliteral root sīn ṭā ḥā occurs just once in the Quran – in the form of the verb ‘suṭiḥat’ – to spread out (an action). It would be incorrect - bad English - to interpret 'suṭiḥat’ as 'flat'.

This surah describes the events on the Day of Judgement.

The word ‘suṭiḥat’ is a verb, showing that the land has been spread out – by Allāh (Subḥānahu ūta'āla) – into a wide plain; an open vista. Its purpose is to accommodate those who stand before Him on that Day.

The words ‘spread out’ do not mean that the Earth itself is flat.

    I hope this helps.
