  • Cannot find a definitive answer on marriage and children, must you have them both?

Simple question that seems to get so many different answers according to google

    Must Muslims get married?

Must Muslims (Who are able) have children? If so can they adopt instead of having them or must they have their own children?

Marriage is Not a Must in Islam.

As far as I know , scholars have said it depends upon the situation of a man.

Sometimes it is Wajib ( compulsory ) , sometimes sunnah , sometimes Makrooh and sometimes even Haram.

If a Man has the means to provide for his family and has strong sexual desires , to an extent that he will commit fornication , then it is a Obligatory for him to get married.

On the other side is someone is impotent , then he should start his treatment , marrying a woman like that is Prohibited.

Adoption in the way we use the word is Not allowed in Islam.

Yes , a couple can take care of a child , but they should not be considered as biological parents at any stage, and the child must not be lied into believing so.

    Allah Hu Alam.

But could you love the child as if it was your own right and refer to him as your son?

and by impotent do you mean men who are infertile or just out of it in general?

      Thank you in advance.

Yes , but you should not lie to him. He should know that you are not his real Parent. It is because as the child grows up the issue of mehram , non mehram comes also suppose the child is married later , the name of biological parents are not used , that would be a major lie.

By Impotent I meant incapable of having intimate relations with wife. The reason is that the wife also has intimation rights with husband and if husband cannot fulfill them because of illness or issues which was there before the marriage took place then the wife would be deprived.
