I know that fasting on Mondays and Thursdays are sunnah and that it is forbidden to fast on Fridays and certain occasions, but is it permissible to fast on any ordinary day?

    :salams,

Friday and Saturday as well as on the two 'Eids are forbidden, other than that you can fast any day.

      Re: Fasting

It is forbidden to fast specifically on Friday, singling the day out. If Friday is joined with another day, like Thursday and Friday, it is permissible.

Singling out Saturday for fasting is considered disliked as well, according to some scholars.

        Re: Fasting

It is forbidden to fast on the days of the two Eids and the 3 days of Tashreeq (the 11th, 12th, 13th of dhul-hijjah, right after Adha Eid).
