and other forum members , just a reminder

10 Muharram 1439 H falls on the 30th of September. (Recommended act of fasting on the day of Ashura)

Rasullulah :saw: says in a hadith
I seek from Allah that fasting on the day of Ashura may atone for the sins of the preceding year.

I think akhi Hamza81 will be making a thread on it perhaps, inshaAllah.
You can check his past excellent threads , a lot of good information.
1st Muharram will be the start of the new calendar year.

Oh thank you, I wasn't aware of this day at all. I'll look up brother Hamza81's thread, they are really informative.

Is there a celebration for the beginning of a new year?

Not really of a celebration, but more of welcoming of the new year.
People usually say Salam maal hijrah and things like that.
From there people usually know that its a new year. (awareness is being spread)
There is also the practice of reciting the supplication on the first day of Muharram. And also right before the new year starts.
Tried to find a hadith on that, but I couldn't really find it.
