  • Should I quit my haram job?

    Hi everyone,

I am a recent convert. I work at a supermarket and part of my job is selling alcohol and meat. I am using all of the money I make from this job to pay for my university course fees. I could not get student finance for this particular course so have to pay for it myself. I am worried that if I quit this job I would not be able to pay the university in time and would have to quit my course. I feel guilty going to work and feel within me that I shouldn't be doing it, especially that Ramadan is starting tomorrow. What do you think I should do? How bad is it to go to work during Ramadan?

Should you quit your Haraam Job?

the answer is in the question,

Allah azzawajal is Ar-Razzaq, if you give up an evil for his sake, he will substitute it with something good.

it's Shaytaan that puts the "What IF..." scenarios to deter/scare you from giving up this evil.

Your earnings have to be Halaal, if not, in addition to this Haraam job, you will be using this dirty Haraam money for everything, your food, your clothing, shelter etc, and acquiring the La'na of Allah Azzawajal.

      Nauzubillah

Perhaps request from your employer some exemption for the sale of alcohol or haram. Afterall in a large supermarket surely you can work in clothing or some other part?

I remember i had a similar issue in a food factory when i was young. They also packed pork mix but i kept myself working on the potato lines etc.

          salaams to all

quit ONLY when u have found another job.
keep on looking for something else while you are still working & keep asking Allah ta'ala to give you something better.

in the meantime avoid handling/dealing with haraam item as far as possible.

            Dear brother,

"Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty." (Baqarah:268).

I know it's hard for you at this very moment, especially as you're converted recently. But trust Allah, and trust His words. Ignore the negative feeling (anxiety) for it's coming from Satan. Allah won't let you down, ever!
Don't rush your salat for anything, as you are standing in front of
The One who is in charge of whatever you are rushing for!

              This.
You think you know more than my scholar's qiyās? He was more learned than you and all other scholars combined. Yeah, the devil was the greatest scholar too and look where his qiyās of fire being better than tīn got him. Sorry.

You follow your scholar's qiyās, and I will follow the Qur'ān and Sunnah.

                  Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

I'd like to kindly share a Dua for asking Allah azza Wajal for Halal Rizq:

Meaning: O Allah, make what is lawful enough for me, as opposed to what is unlawful, and spare me by Your grace, of need of others.
