Is an Apple MacBook worth it?

First time is using Intel chip, a brand of processor. Second is using the all new M1 chip, which is Apple's own processor. Latter is much faster and provide much better battery life than the former.

On an iPad, you can't multi-task to the extent you can on a Mac, or on any PC for that matter. So you can't have multiple windows open at the same time, etc. And also Mac has a larger display. If you don't really need these, then I guess iPad is okay.

a mac (or in fact any laptop) will be better then a ipad (tablet) and more versatile so long as it has decent specs in sha Allah

Yes true. I use a surface pro for work and I really like it so I did think maybe an iPad and keyboard will suffice me but tbh I think I am defo better off with a laptop

For not much more you'll get a lot lot more value for money, anyways that's just what I think

If you need a laptop right now: grab the new M1 Macbook Air or Pro.

If you already have a good laptop, wait two or three years for the new M1 chips to mature. Apple are on track to have the fastest and most power-efficient laptops on the market.

Iā€™m going to get the M1 MacBook air Insha allah. After notEvolvedā€™s post, I watched some YouTube unboxing & reviews & it looks pretty good. Letā€™s hope I donā€™t do something dumb, like buy a wrong model

Btw some companies will refund you the difference if you see it cheaper on black Friday but obviously depends on who you got it from

Ā£999. I donā€™t really think itā€™ll get much cheaper on Black Friday because most places have started their deals already. Seems like a pretty decent laptop, fast & easy to set up.

this might sound like a stupid question, but when I finish using the laptop do I shut it down or press sleep or just simply close the lid?

You can create a hot corner so that when you move the mouse to one of the corners of the screen it will put up a screensaver and lock your account. Then you just need to close the lid.

Settings > Desktop/screensaver > Hot corners button
