Trying to crack Windows 7 password

One of my kids changed the password on her laptop, but then forgot it...!!!

Any suggestions or links as to how to get back into it? Preferably without having to trash the OS and reinstalling. Jzk

Re: Trying to crack Windows 7 password

if it was so easy, there would be no point of having the password protection. If you lost your door key, would you expect anyone else to know how to get you in your house without the key? If they were able to wouldnt that worry you??

The only solution is to try somewhere like PC World, they might charge you, but then that would make sure you remember not to do this next time... the kids should not be given priviledge to chnage the password.

Oh and yes, a cheaper way would be to login via dos, or boot disc, copy essentila files to your flash drive then reinstall windows but you got to know what you doing. Best advice, pc world
Salaams, I understand this is a religious forum and as a result their may be some very religious folk or sensitive folk on here. As I result I need to ask that my comments/posts if found offensive in anyway then please dont read them otherwise take with a pinch of salt. I do not wish to get into a serious argument over religious issues which I believe are either black or white.

For future reference keep and admin account and let your children have access to a user account.

Just an update on this issue. All the password cracks didn't work. In the end, I had to restore the system back to the original factory OEM setting when the laptop was bought a few years ago. It meant having to reinstall a lot of the software to the latest version. But at least the laptop is now very very slick since the whole exercise enabled me to clear all that junk from it.

You should have tried ophcrack. A bootable Linux software that actually cracks the password and tells you what it is. It worked reasonably well for my computer. And told me the password within minutes.

I prefer to use PCUnlocker Live CD, which could be used to remove forgotten logon passwords for Windows 8, 7, Vista and XP.
