My period was due yesterday but instead I got brown discharge continuosly the whole day i carried on praying but today im still getting it and im not sure whether i should stop praying or not?

Im not sure about the other madhaahib, but according to hanafi fiqh the brown discharge will be classed as a period according to the info you have provided. You need to stop praying....

If it's time for your period, and the normal colour discharge has disappeared and you're now getting brown/red-even if it's just spotting, you should stop praying. Sometimes the first day can be like that, and then it'll start properly the following day, or later on.

Shaykh Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: Before my period comes I have a brown discharge that lasts for five days, after which comes the menstrual blood. The menstrual blood lasts for eight days after the first five days. I pray on the five days but I wonder whether I should fast and pray on these days or not? Please advise me, may Allaah reward you.

He replied:
But if these five days are followed immediately by your period, then they are part of your period, so you should not fast or pray on these days.
