Cat's don't have dietary laws. Muhammad pbuh didn't say what is halal or haraam for cats, only Muslims.

Animals eat their natural diet, which may include foods that are bad for humans, because their constitution is different to ours. So I think the above users are correct in that the dietary laws are for humans, and animals should be left to eat what's natural for them. Cats in the wild kill animals with their teeth and claws, and then eat them. It would be haram for humans to kill animals in this way (i.e. by stabbing them to death).

When it comes to food whether haram or halal there is a law for only humans (muslims).

"It is Haraam to consume Haraam food. Similarly, it is Haraam to take any benefit from the Haraam food. To buy or sell Haraam food is also Haraam.
Therefore, it is not permissible to buy Haraam food to feed the cat. Halaal meat should be used. (Fataawa Rahimiyyah vol.10 pg.138; Darul Ishaat)"

welll actually, yes, the cats do need to be fed halal food.because the reason which the jurists give for why dogs are nt permissible in households is that they are 'najis' or impure. and no matter how much you try they always end up with some impurity. whereas cats are not 'najis'but 'taahir'or pure, because they roam about in the muslim houses and donot generally eat impure things. but if a cat eats something impure, i.e. pork or something like that, it becomes impure for the time that food stays in its body. and every thing it touches becomes impure too. therefore, the pet cats do need to b fed with halal stuff according to jurists.
