Just some reminders in case it might help anyone.


Scholars have said: this dunya is meant to break you, hurt you, trouble and test you - that's the point; it's not meant to be Jannah. If we didn't suffer, feel troubled, feel grief, fear or whatever, in some way or some degree at some time, it wouldn't be dunya. When we realise/understand this, it helps our perspective.

We're all in it, all tested with difficulties, none is exempt.

"And We will most certainly test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient." [Al-Baqarah, 2:155]

We all have a choice. In how we respond. And that's the actual focus. Do we respond and grow in bitterness and negativity?

Or do we respond in, and want to respond and grow in faith, gratitude, tawakkul, and compassion... for Allah, going forward with positivity, remembering that to Him we belong and we are journeying back to Him - the way a true believer responds and believes. Because ultimately, in all that we experience, that's the test: are we true believers...?

"Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested. But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars." [Al-'Ankaboot, 29:2-3]


And... do we truly believe that all the affairs of the believer is of khayr?

"Amazing is the affair of the believer for indeed there is good for him in all of his affairs and this is not the case with anyone except the believer. If ease and happiness touch him, he thanks Allah and this is good for him, and if harm or hardship touch him, he is patient and this is good for him." [Muslim]

"I am amazed by the believer. Indeed, Allah does not ordain for the believer except what is good for him." [Ahmad]

Will we say, "if only this and that", or will we say, "Alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal" / "Qadrallah wa ma sha`a fa'aal"... ?

Or do we blame the outward / the other or do we self-reflect and realise the possibility of where we might've been wrong?

Or if we suffer something, or we make mistakes - and indeed we certainly will - do we crumble, stop trying and drown in misery, or do we acknowledge our mistake, regret, repent and keep going, seeking His vast Rahmah, and never despairing of it, for a believer never does. Allah's door is open. Alhamdulillah.

It won't be easy (all the time) to do. For a sincere believer the only choice is to hold on, to patiently persevere - seeking from Allah.

Constantly reminding oneself and being at peace with the fact that: we humans, many-a-times don't know what to do or what's happening, but Allah Almighty, always knows what to do and what's happening; we humans are short-sighted and have no knowledge of the unseen - only Allah, the Most Loving and Compassionate, does.

If we're not tested, we don't learn, don't grow, don't appreciate... don't learn patience, don't become stronger, break easily... don't understand what believing and having trust and faith in Allah truly means, no matter how testing things seem or become.

The first time something horrible, horrible, happens... it hurts / troubles / annoys, etc - but we learn from it (in sha Allah), and we know better, alhamdulillah. And that 'wisdom' comes from experiencing what we rather not.

"... it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know." [Al-Baqarah, 2:216]

And Allah in His Kindness only tests to our capacity, and we are taught to ask, and it reminds us of His Care towards us:

"Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us... " [Al-Baqarah, 2:286]

And noticing and being thankful for, as one must, through it all, the truth of:

Indeed, with hardship, there is ease." [Al-Sharh, 94:5]

And that, if we ask and turn to Allah throughout testing times, throughout our days and lives, if we truly believe in His existence and promises, and that He hears us when we call, then whatever results in life, whatever we must experience, as long as we turned to Him - our only Protector, then we succeed the real success.

"Do not grief or be sad, indeed Allah is with us." [Al-Tawbah, 9:40]

Only when we refer back to Allah, to His guidance and remembrance, do we find hope and comfort. Just like He said. Alhamdulillah.

"Certainly, in the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." [Al-Ra'd, 13:28]

Remember and recite His blessed Words. They are not just words... they have a miraculous way of uplifting. Alhamdu-lillah.

"O mankind, there has come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers." [Yunus, 10:57]
