We follow the Lunar siting in Mecca.

But in a day and age when technology has advanced to the extent that the new crescent Moon can be determined to any day now or the future using astronomical calculations.
Why do we still need to witness the new Moon?

Astronomical calculations can't predict whether Moon will actually be visible to a naked eye observer in a location because of the unpredictability of weather and atmosphere.

The rule is that the moon should be sighted with the naked eye from where you live. Not that the moon is there but not visible.

But the new crescent Moon will still be present even if cloudy.

Astronomical calculations have been used for centuries. It's not a modern phenomenon.

Why do people have a problem following the sunnah? when the sunnah is clear

It is as if when the iman says "for every newly invented matter is an innovation and every innovation is in the hellfire" just falls on deaf ears

It's not whether it is present or not. That's not what was asked of us. The crescent needs to sighted. If we're going to use an alternative, it should be able to do the job as good as the traditional method, i.e. it should be able to predict whether it will actually visible to naked eye. But, calculations don't do that. There are many many more factors that affect visibility than just clouds. Brightness of the sun, air pollutants in the air, air humidity, air temperature etc. It makes prediction on apparent visibility very hard.
