  • Happiness

I have come to the conclusion that I am not meant to be happy in this world. I have accepted that my life will always be full of sadness and heartbreak.

Is this wrong? Should I change this mindset?
I feel like good things were not meant for me.
    I have low self-esteem, self-worth, no confidence.
I feel like I will never achieve anything (and I haven't for the most part).
I have concluded that I will always be sad and unhappy, and I'm almost content with that. But sometimes I feel sad that I'm unhappy and that nothing I want ever works out for me.

Nothing is wrong with my faith. I practice the deen wholeheartedly.

We must realize that happiness is not a destination rather, it is a state mind along the journey.

As you sit now in what ever condition you are choose to be happy.

Perhaps you have temporary hardships and will have a reward of joy.

Remain patient, pray and feed the poor and needy.

The important thing is that you practice your deen and never lose hope in the mercy of Allah (swt). The dunya is a prison for the believers and like paradise for the disbelievers, so it's not unusual for a believer to feel unhappy in the dunya and this is not a character flaw. There is a lot of injustice in the world and so many people face personal hardships as well that it would be wrong to chastise them for being unhappy.

Having said that, I hope you do find happiness in your life as well inshaAllah. For most people I think neither happiness or sadness are permanent residents in their lives because times and circumstances change every so often. I also don't think it's wrong to try and seek happiness in your life. Even though for a believer the ultimate and more permanent happiness is in Jannah, but that doesn't mean there's no scope or possibility of encountering happy times in this life as well.

Salaam sis here is some articles I wrote to help with gaining happiness in an Islamic method:

          http://thinkingmuslima.blogspot.com/...nd-loving.html

          http://thinkingmuslima.blogspot.com/...nd-loving.html
          وَاقْصِدْ فِي مَشْيِكَ وَاغْضُضْ مِن صَوْتِكَ ۚ إِنَّ أَنكَرَ الْأَصْوَاتِ لَصَوْتُ الْحَمِيرِ - 31:19

And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys."

Do you not see that Allah has made subject to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and amply bestowed upon you His favors, [both] apparent and unapparent? But of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening Book [from Him].

Why is it some people seem to get everything in this world and hereafter? then you have some people who are losers in this world and hereafter, is that fair?

Strange comment. How do you know what one will receive in the hereafter?

Losers in the Hereafter chose to turn away from Allah's (swt) message, either by refusing to accept proof of it's truthfulness due to arrogance or by refusing to repent for their wrongdoing due to false pride. People lose in the hereafter because they chose wrong instead of right even though they had a lifetime of opportunities to turn things around and change. How can giving the fruits (of words and deeds people accumulated during their lifetime) in the hereafter be anything other than fair?

As to what people gain or lose in this life; it is miniscule in comparison to what they have to gain or lose in the next life to the point that in the next life, people will say everything they had in the dunya was insignificant even if they had the most grand collection of wealth and treasures.
