  • Favoured/Favourite Surah 2019 مفضل سوَر

    Hello,

I have not seen a topic like this in 2019.

So let us start. What is a surah that you have a closer relationship to than any others? And why.

When it comes to me, I first always say that Suratul Faatiha is my favourite, it is so eloquent and so powerful yet so concise in 7 ayat.

I love surahs/sowar that talks about themes of the afterlife like Suratul Mulk, Waqiah etc. and talk about the creation of Allah and talk about history. Surah Sajda, Surah Sad.

I also think Surah Mulk. This is because I have recently started to implement reading it before sleeping at night.

Once, I felt my eyes being drawn like a magnet to the ayats in Surah Mulk about how provisions is from Allah - the verses about rain, the verse about how the bird were being held up in the sky none other than Allah.

It was those verses about provisions that my eyes were being pushed to read in a way that I can't describe. My eyes were zoning in on them without me doing it manually. I think Allah was teaching me something.

Also Surah Duha, I memorized this surah recently and this beautiful Surah makes u aware of your blessings. Myself and others say they have hard lives, yet looking back there were moments in our lives of desperation that Allah has gotten us out of.

So, to show our thanks we should give back, by helping those in difficult situations especially ones who are in situations that we were once struggling in. And also thank Allah.

    وَاقْصِدْ فِي مَشْيِكَ وَاغْضُضْ مِن صَوْتِكَ ۚ إِنَّ أَنكَرَ الْأَصْوَاتِ لَصَوْتُ الْحَمِيرِ - 31:19

And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys."

Do you not see that Allah has made subject to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and amply bestowed upon you His favors, [both] apparent and unapparent? But of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening Book [from Him].

An important message is that Allah is so merciful, despite that you might be arrogant or take things for granted, he is still loving and gives you a chance. And how all of life is important.

That is a difficult question to answer. It depends on where you are in your life/what challenges/blessings your are facing/bestowed with. Just like when our Prophet was facing difficulties, Allah gifted him with surah Yusuf. So I don't think I can give a definitive answer, but recently I've been listening to surah Taha..
Btw "surah" is a feminin word. It ends with "ta marbutah" so the adjective also has to be feminin and it comes after the noun .."surah mufaddalah".
