Prophethood? If that's not it, I give up.

If I'm correct, Sr Juwairiyyah almost has it.

                Half the letters are there.

(If I'm wrong, then... I deserve to be pelted with virtual eggs and tomatos.)

Correct! Ma sha Allah. Parents/Parenthood is the answer.

                      -----

                      A miracle before their eyes
                      Changing their whole lives
                      Guarding Allah's slave
No choice but to be brave
                      A test of sacrifice
                      Hoping for great prize
                      Respect and Shukr is due
                      A prayer of compassion too
                      Reaping, after demise
                      Hope, their status will rise
                      No ending in that way
                      Hope, His slave will pray.

                      Some explanation:

                      - Miracle.
                      - That child is Allah's slave. A test for parents to take care of Allah's property in the way He is pleased.
                      - Task requires a lot of strength and courage, sacrifice.

                      - "And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination." [31:14]

                      - "And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word (respect them)." [17:23]

                      - "And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small." [17:24]

                      - "Among the good deeds that continue to benefit a believer after death are: knowledge that he taught and disseminated, a righteous child who lived after him..."
                      [Ibn Majah, hasan]

                      - "Indeed, Allah the Exalted will raise the status of his righteous servants in Paradise and they will say: O Lord, what is this? Allah will say: This is due to your child seeking forgiveness for you." [Ahmad, hasan]

                      - "When a man dies, his good deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who will pray for him," [Muslim].

Ah MashaaAllah, it makes sense now. The other poems were all Ibadah related so that threw me off.

                            Another :

I prefer you by my side
This fact, how do I hide
Your absence, how I feel it
                            Indeed it's true, believe it
                            You're really one to keep
                            The right kind of deep
                            To have... and to hold
                            Share this Dunyawi load

                            1, 2, don't really care
                            3, 4, just be there

                            Over others, I pick you
                            They're useless compared to you
                            One, two, three or four
                            One's enough, but I don't mind more
Might leave one hanging - can't be just
Full equality is not a must
Of the choices, you are my choice
                            My appreciation, here, I voice.
