    Bahadur Shah Zafar:

nahin ishq mein is ka to ranj hamein ke qaraar-o-shakeb zara na raha

'Zafar' aadmi no us ko jaaniyega ho woh kaisa hi saahib-e-fahm-o-zaka
jise aish mein yaad-e-khudaa na rahi jise taish mein khauf-e-khuda na raha

    Mufti Sadruddin 'Azurda':

naaloN se mere kab ta ho baalaa jahaaN nahiN
kab aasmaaN zameeN zameeN aasmaaN nahiN

kehta hoon mooh se kuch main nikalta hain mooh se kuch
kehne ko yu to hain ye zubaaN aur zubaaN nahin

'Azurda!' hont tak na hile us ke rubaruu
maanaa kii aap sa koi jaadu bayaan nahin

    Akhtar Ansari:

    yaad-e-maazi azaab hain yaa Rab!
chheen le mujh se haafizaa mera

My most favorite Urdu poem (by Allama Iqbal):

Kabhi Ae Haqiqat-e-Muntazir! Nazar Aa Libas-e-Majaz Mein
Ke Hazar Sajde Tarap Rahe Hain Meri Jabeen-e-Niaz Mein

Tu Bacha Bacha Ke Na Rakh Isse, Tera Aaeena Hai Woh Aaeena
Ke Shikast Ho To Aziz Tar Hai Nigah-e-Aaeena Saaz Mein

Na Woh Ishq Mein Raheen Garmiyaan, Na Woh Husn Mein Raheen Shaukiyan
Na Woh Ghaznavi Mein Tarap Rahi, Na Kham Hai Zulf-e-Ayaz Mein

Jo Mein Sar Basajda Huwa Kabhi To Zameen Se Ane Lagi Sada
Tera Dil To Hai Sanam Ashna, Tujhe Kya Mile Ga Namaz Mein

There are soooo many good Urdu poems... where do we begin and where do we end

Asar Kare Na Kare Sun Lo
Nahi Hai Dad Ka Talib Ye band azad...

Ye Horiyan Frangi Dil o Nazar Ka Hijab
Buhat Magrabya jalwa haye ya bar kbab..

    ..

" Masjid khuda ka ghar hai peene ki jagah nahin,
Kafir k dil me ja wahan par khuda nahin!"

    ...

    Faiz :

" Kafir ke dil se aaya hun ye dekh kar,
khuda maujud hai wahan lekin use pata nahin!

Falak deta hai jin ko aish, unko ghum bhi hote hain,
Jahan bajte hain naqqare, wahan maatam bhi hote hain,

Whom are given pleasure from heaven, they suffer from sorrow as well,
Where the the melody of the drum is heard, there moaning occurs as well,

When Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi (rh) was studying in Lucknow, his mother often sent him detailed letters for his guidance. Many of those letters are a manifestation of her motherly feelings and they bear the essence of her life long experiences as well.

In one such letter, she made an effort to versify her motherly feelings to implore Allah by writing the following poem :

Versified Supplications of the Mother of Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi

Thi jo kuch mujhe fikr sab door ki

Duaa jald meri ye ho mustajaab
Ali ho Tere fazl se kaamyaab

Wo ho kamyaabi jo ho basanad
Ho aisi sanad jo ki ho mustanad

Na ho fikr koi na ranj wa ta'ab
Tamannaye bar aaye meri ye sab

Yeh bande hai Tere Tu hi reham kar

Jahaan main sada dono phoolein phalein
Sadaa yeh Shari'at pe qaaim rahein

Yeh sab behen bhaai rahein shaad kaam
Jahaan mein ho iqbaal un ka ghulaam

Khizaan main jo hai aaj fasl e bahaar
Yeh sab fazl Tera hai Parwardigaar

    Ye fazl bahaari rahe taahiyat
Ho behtar ki behtar hayaat aur mamaat

Tum Aarzoo k diye Jala k
    KHUDA se achi ummeed rakhna

Khizan k Mausam ki Rukhsati pe
    Bahar~E~Gul ki naveed rakhna

    Wo tera RAB hai
    Wo tera Apna
USI ko Dil k qareeb rakhna

USI se karna tu Dil ki baaten
    USI ko Apna Habib Rakhna

Utha k haathon ko Us k aagay
Tu Aankh mai kuch nami si Rakhna

    Wo tera RAB hai

    USI se Raaz~O~Niaz Karna

USI se Gham ki Kahani Kehna
    USI se apni Zubani kehna
