    Free Arabic reading comprehension lessons

    As-Salamu Alaykum,

In an effort to help brothers and sisters achieve their Arabic language goals at their own pace, self-study lessons are being held.

    The lessons entail the following:

Every week, a passage from the Hanbali Fiqh text entitled Rawd al-Murbi’ will be assigned to students. For various reasons, we are beginning with the Book of Jihad.

The objective is to analyze and identify each word in the passage, including the following:

    1) Verbs- identify the person, gender, number, tense, mood, voice and “Form”, i.e. I-XII, and whether they are transitive or intransitive.

    2) Nouns- identify the case, gender and number, as well as their relationship to the verb and whether they are a subject, predicate, object, part of a genitive construct, or part of a phrase.

    3) Prepositions, Adverbs, Demonstrative Pronouns, Pronouns, and Misc. Particles as well as their phrases.

    4) Translation- based on the above analysis of each word/phrase, provide the meaning which closest represents the intent of the author.

The complete analysis for each weeks assigned passage will be posted to the following platforms, and more may be added over time:

    Facebook

    Whatsapp

    Telegram

To be admitted to the lessons, complete and submit the form in the following link:

No one teaches it and its the most superior of voluntary acts, even better than prayer or Hajj. Yet, no one teaches it from a relied upon work of Fiqh. There are too many Muslims getting their information about "Jihad" from unreliable sources instead of the same sources that prayer, fasting and Hajj are learned from.

Besides, the main goal of the lessons is to analyze the grammar, morphology and syntax as found in a relied-upon work of Fiqh. The subject is secondary.
