  • When is taf3ily used?

Asalaamu alaykum. When is taf3ily used, in fi'l amr, or any female sentence? I.e. Is it used as: hiyya taf3ily. Or is it hiyya taf3al? or fi'l amr i.e. Laa taf3ily only? Jazakum Allah khayra

    Re: When is taf3ily used?

    وعليكم السلام

My grammar is a little rusty, but I'll give it a try بإذن الله

    The verb is: فعَل، يفعلُ اِفْعَلْ*

The feminine present/future tense, second person form is: تَفْعَلِينَ

What you're asking about is this: تَفْعَلِي --> This form represents the non-nominative case, meaning it can be مجزوم OR منصوب, depending on the context.
I'll give some examples of each form to make it clear:

أنتِ تفعلين شيئا = مرفوع --> "You (feminine) are doing something"
لا تفعلي هذا! = مجزوم --> "Don't do that!"
أنا أريد أن تفعلي واجبك = منصوب --> "I want you (female) to do your homework."

As for فعل الأمر, it would be: افْعَلِي.
I hope that made sense! lol

asalaamu alaykum. That was really useful :) Jazakum Allah khayr. Can I ask when u said: 'hiyya taf'aleena shay'a. Is it hiyya taf'al, or hiyya taf'aleen for singular feminine? Also is there any table which summarises the female forms?

OH NO! I made a mistake! I'll edit it!

It's actually: هي تفعلُ and أنتِ تفعلين You were right.

I told you I was rusty with grammar haha.

هي تفعلُ = She is doing.

أنتِ تفعلين = You (feminine) are doing.

asalaamu alaykum. Is it allowed to say: 'Anti Taf3al'? (singular/female). Also: What is the Arabic for 'you/ (plural/female) are doing'

No, that's not allowed. أنتِ corresponds with تفعلين only.

You (feminine plural) are doing = تفْعَلْنَ
