  • Maidnah books br Asif Meharali TOO Hard!

    Assalamu Alaykum,

I've been using br asifs videos from lqtoronto, to go through the madinah books. I'm on book 1. I know everyone likes the videos, but for some reason, I find it too hard. I am a sane individual with average intelligence. So why is it I find it so difficult? I only find it difficult, when he introduces new grammer rules that are not in the book. I don't find the actual book confusing. Has anyone else been in this same situation?

Can anybody give me some advise?

    :wswrwb:

Take time going through the videos, rewatch the ones which are confusing.
Learn his songs, they are actually helpful, that's how I actually remember some of the stuff.

Don't rush it, it will come with time :insha:

I did have to re-watch some of the material, especially when I saw I messed up and entire exercise and couldn't figure out why. But it becomes easier after time.
One thing I would really advice which I regret not doing myself, make notes of those grammar lessons.
It helps in the long run, and you'll understand it better as well :insha:

One of the things is the "badal" (subsitiute). But it's mainly when he uses fancy arabic terms.

Do you have a copy of the handouts?

Re: Maidnah books br Asif Meharali TOO Hard!

                    Something that lqtoronto sent me today;

If you do not skip the videos you should have no difficulty.
Yes. He is teaching more than what is in the books. But he keeps repeating the concepts, so do not get discourage if at first you do not understand.
It is important that you follow this method:

                    The method:
                    1. Read the key (in English, Urdu or German) of one lesson.
                    2. Read the Lesson (in Arabic)
                    3. Watch the Video of that lesson.
                    4. Do exercises of that lesson (in the Arabic text) - a must (no pain no gain)
                    5. Refer to the handout whenever the teacher refers to it.
                    6. Check your answers.

                            بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

                            Badal means subsitute.

Whenever a Demonstrate Pronoun (Ismul Ishara) is followed by a Definite Noun, then the the Definite Noun is a "Substitute" for the Demonstrative Pronoun.

                            For example:

                            هذا الكتب

                            hadha alkitaabu

Now the هذا is the Demonstrative Pronoun (Ismul Ishara), while الكتاب which is a Definite Noun is the "Subsititute" for the Ismul Ishara.

If هذا is marfoo then the badal will be marfoo
If هذا is mansoob then the badal will be mansoob... etc.

Hence the badal will follow the case of ismu l-ishaarah.

Sometimes, a concept is hard to grasp, however, it is repeated through the videos many times, after its introduction.

Has anyone here completed the full 2 year madinah arabic syllabus? If so, tell me about it. Do you achieve fluency afterwards?
