  • Help! some problem with the 6th verse of surah al kafirun

    بسم الله

So first of all I just followed a lecture when the teacher is teaching the grammar analysis of the 6th verse of surah al-kafirun

the 6th verse goes like this :

    لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِىَ دِينِ
It reads as "lakum diinukum wa "liya" diini"
But the teacher taught us that the word "liya"
    لِىَ is actually "lii"لي.
and he taught us as "lii"لي instead of"liya" لِىَ .
so what he taught is different with what is in the mushaf.

Obviously the quran takes precedence over the teacher, but does the teacher makes a mistake? or its actually valid?
Can someone help me explain this?

    thank you for your help.

    salam alaykum wa rahmat allah
the teacher didnt teach you that the use of لِىَ . in that verse of the quran is incorrect he taught you that you can use لي instead of"liya" لِىَ
liya لِىَ have it uses and lii لي have it uses
quran is not only the holy book of god but is also the refference of proper arabic language

There are different readings. Lii as well as liya. Nafi, Hisham from Ibn Amir, Hafs from Asim and one version of al-Buzzi from Ibn Kathir read liya, other recitators read lii.

      E.g. of lii: n=social_sharing
