  • Coloquial or Classical?

    Assalaamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh

    I知 torn!

I知 an Arabic beginner, mostly good with the script and Alhumdulillah able to read Quran (though very slowly and without comprehension).

I知 planning to study for four months or so in Palestine insha但llah but it痴 really difficult for me to choose between learning the Quranic or Palestinian Arabic. Of course, understanding Quran without translation is a dream for a revert. But, at the same time, if I知 living in Palestine I want to be able to hit the streets and practice with people!

    What do you think?

Do quranic Arabic. You should pick up colloquial anyway by living there and interacting with people inshaAllah

The sunnah is like the ark of Noah, whoever embarks upon it reaches salvation and whoever refuses is drowned.

Thank you for the advice. I asked some Arab friends as well and it seems the grammar is pretty much the same, so I can transition from Quranic Arabic to a modern dialect pretty smoothly إن شاء الله
