  • Reading Surah Mulk after Esha

    Assalamu alaikum

A quick reminder, make a habit to read Surah Mulk after esha as it protects one from the punishment of the grave,
as is mentioned in the hadith in Nasa'-i.
“Mix with the noble people, you become one of them; and keep away from evil people so that you protect yourself from their evils.”

does anyone know the times this applies so can you do it straight after Maghrib or like only before you sleep?
...And he who fears Allah - He will make for him a way out. [65:3]

I wonder if you can read it after Isha(as per hadith we should sleep after it) but then not go bed immediately after..?
‘If only I had done such-and-such, then such-and-such would have happened.’ Rather you should say, ‘Qaddara Allah wa ma sha a fa’ala (Allah decrees, and what He wills He does),’ for (the words) ‘If only’ open the door to the Shaytan.” (Narrated by Muslim).

Best is to read it after esha prayers as before sleeping.

        Jazakallah khair.

            After maghrib, Surah waqi'ah.

Is that the same as evening adhkaar? And I thought there was a diff of opinion on this, some say after Maghrib, some
say after Asr, some say after dhuhr?

I'm confused...it says evening in the hadith and doesn't say Isha or Maghrib (and evening is after Asr...no?)

The general consensus is after esha.

I thought it's reading Surah Waqiah for maghrib prayers? I could be wrong, just heard it off someone.

Its Surah waqi'ah after maghrib prayers, brother. Thats when it should be read.

                      Surah waqi'ah protects against poverty.

The narrations mention 'every night' in general so it's anytime before maghrib. A specific time has not been mentioned.

                              Just read now in islamqa:

It is better to read surah mulk before sleeping every night due to the action of the prophet saw. But if the person reads it in the prayer, or in tahajjud prayer or before that, he will still attain the reward due to the general nature of the first hadeeth. It does not specify a time to read surah mulk.
