It is related that Abu 'Uthman was once riding in the street when a pot
of ashes was thrown down upon him. He dismounted, and prostrated
himself to God in gratitude, and then brushed the ashes from his
clothes without saying a word. 'Shall you not rebuke them?' he was
asked, but he replied, 'A man who deserves hellfire but receives only
    ashes cannot fairly be angry'.

Whosoever caused his heart to settle with his Lord shall be in a state, calm and tranquility, and whosoever sent it amongst the people shall be disturbed and excessively perturbed.” - Ibn al Qayyim al Jawziyyah

"If Allaah SWT opens up a door for you no one can close it, if Allaah decides that he wants you to have something you’ll have it... When all the doors and avenues are closed for you and no one can help you, you know who to turn to because you want someone to open that door for you and someone who can help you and that someone is Al-Fattah (The Opener). He is waiting for you to come to him and to ask him, he will open up the door at the right time..."

Hearts are like cooking pots. They boil whatever is in them. And the scooping spoons of these pots, are the tongue. Henceforth, look to a person whenever he speaks. For sure, his tongue will scoop up for you what is simmering in his heart; whether it's something sweet or sour, fresh or stale. "

It doesn't mean that one shouldn't enjoy life, but that when one understands that the "complete happiness" they are looking for in this dunya doesn't exist here, then it becomes easier to go thru trials and to work for your akhirah."

(Subhaanallah. I don't know how anyone cannot be filled with love for this *great Shaykh (ra), and the words of wisdom in his writings. Allahu Akbar. Alhamdulillah. )

'*Great Shaykh' is a horribly underwhelming description. Not sure what words to use...

Somewhere in the world right now, there are people who would love to be in your shoes.
They have no food, no shelter, no peace, no family and you have it all.
“Mu'min” is more that just a title. It is to have Imaan established in the heart and testified to by the limbs.

If my thanking Allah for His blessings is a blessing,
then I must thank Him in the same measure again.
How can one thank Him save by His grace
as time goes on, and life goes by?
My only excuse is that I am inadequate
but my excuse is a confession that I have no excuse.
