Seeds Of Peace summer camp has done what some governments have only tried to do: teach kids from war-torn regions to reach out to one another:

Each spring I sow the seeds of peace,
And pray that sun and rain increase,
The rocky soil is hard to till;
But I believe in human will.

My seedlings all aspire to be
Robust, resilient redwood trees.
I chuckle, for their grounds are just,
And help them rise above the dust.

The seeds gain knowledge from below,
Then sprouts emerge from under toe.
I hope these scrawny plants survive,
For if they fail, new weeds will thrive.

But even winter's spell for frost
Reveals this cause is not yet lost:
For though the winds of war may rage
They never can uproot the sage.

Then sunlight penetrates the clouds
And blossoms cry for joy aloud:
For soon they'll turn from flower to fruit
And learn that peace is worth pursuit.
