  • Have good thoughts about Allah

    Assalamualaikum.

    The purpose of this post is to remind myself and you how to have good thoughts about Allah during tests.

    FIRST CASE:

    The first case is that you are given a test from Allah as a punishment because you are a sinful Muslim. Even when you are being punished in this world, you should have good thoughts about Allah.

    Evidence:

    The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When Allaah wills good for His slave, He hastens the punishment for him in this world, and when Allaah wills ill for His slave, he withholds the punishment for his sins from him until he comes with all his sins on the Day of Resurrection.”

    Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (2396);

    So the fact that you are being punished in this world means that Allah cares about you. He wants you to humble yourself to Him and leave your sins. He wants to see you improve yourself and become a better Muslim.

    SECOND CASE:

    The second case is that you are a Muslim who does not commit a lot of sins. Even you may be tested by Allah in order to increase your reward and status in the Hereafter. Don’t think that you are being punished by God.

    In the saheeh hadeeth it says: “The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. When Allaah loves a people He tests them. Whoever accepts that wins His pleasure but whoever is discontent with that earns His wrath.”

    Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (2396) and Ibn Maajah (4031);

    So you may be tested by Allah even though you are not a sinful Muslim. This is done to increase your status and because Allah loves you.
