  • Studying in Malaysia - Muslim student Life/Part time work

    Assalamoalaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatahu,

I have read that a permit is required by a student in Malaysia to work Part time. But is it possible to easily obtain a part time job as a student in Malaysia? Anything to take care of some of the finances while studying.

In general how is Malaysia as a Muslim majority country? Would it be closer in comparison to like Turkey or the Gulf?

    Jazakumullahu Khair

Yes it is. But generally in F&B (food & beverages) industry. You could easily apply part time jobs at Arabic restaurants in Malaysia, or even KFC or McDonalds (which are certified HALAL in Malaysia) even Pizza Hut. Or if you're religiously inclined, teaching Quran / Arabic part-time at any number of Malaysian madrassas / tahfiz schools.

Requirement, learn the language (Bahasa Melayu) and passable English. Generally Malay language is the easiest to learn so much so a Bangladeshi migrant worker who'd only stay in Malaysia in less than 2 months can speak Malay quite fluently.
