Jazakallah Khair, IbnK, and I agree it should be updated.

        There has been changes.

Three new haj licenses were issued last year and seven new ones this year. This increases UK haj quota by 1500 as each company has 150 quotas.

The 20% reduction, in existing quota, is still in place as is the 5 year rule on Haj.

It is anticipated that a further 20 new haj license will be issued to UK companies next year.

With the removal of the 20% quota and addition of new companies, UK's Haj Pilgrims are anticipated to total around 20,000 this year and 27,500 next year.

There are no material changes that will affect the hujjajs but substantial changes that does to Haj companies globally.

Last year they removed the Haj Drafts to be attached to the passports and issued a barcode in its place. That reduced the processing time for haj traffic at the arrival airports. This year that barcode too is removed as is the barcode (stickers) that are adhered inside the passports. This removal addresses the dis-crepancies of missing barcodes and also address some abuse by fraudulent operators.

Hujjajs are not allowed, this year, to leave Makkah before end of 16 Zul Hajj. Originally, this prohibition was directed at only those returning to their overseas homes. But the prohibition was extended to cover all hujjajs, excepting the locals and those from the GCC countries, early last week.

The impact of this prohibition is serious on the early returners hoping to fly back home by 14 Zul Haj and return to work the following day. They are delayed by three days extra stay in Makkah. They wont be allowed even to move to Jedda as some tour operators such as Dar Salam of USA and Al Hidaya of UK do.

Further, it also affects those who aspired to visit Madina for just two or three days on 14 Zul Haj and catch their flight back home by end of 16 Zul Haj. They wont be allowed to travel out of Makka to Madina before beginning of 17 Zul Haj. For such Hujjajs the option is return back home on 17 Zul Haj without visiting Madina or, else, to get just a couple of hours to pop into Masjid-e-Nabavi for the salutation and off to Madina airport to board their flights.

Are you talking about the small barcode with the matawaf number written on it or are you talking about big stickers they stick inside the passport when we arrive at Hajj terminal

                      Salam!

pilgrimage (Hajj) is the fifth pillar of Islam. This pillar is obligatory for every Muslim, male or female, provided that he/she is physically and financially able to do so.

                          Assalam-O-Alaikum,

In Pakistan the Hajj process is managed by ministry of religious affairs.
Every adult Muslim (male or female) who has the physical and financial means is required to travel to Mecca to perform the Hajj once in his or her lifetime. In Mecca, Muslims from all over the world gather in a display of faith, unity, and solidarity by recreating the ritual that the prophet Muhammad performed in his last pilgrimage.

                          Thanks for sharing.

                              Re: Hajj process

Since Hajj is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for most people, the importance of early and adequate preparation cannot be over-emphasized. There is a considerable investment of money, time, and physical effort required for the Pilgrimage to be fulfilling and meaningful. Information has to be collected, itineraries must be worked out, and documents have to be readied. The purpose of these preparations is not only to minimize physical discomfort, emotional aggravation and monetary expenses, but also to enable you to perform Hajj in relative peace of heart and mind. Therefore, it makes sense to be as ready as possible for this momentous journey of self-discovery, self-appraisal, and spiritual enlightenment.
