Am sure people who are savvy and have booked visa's before for there travel to india/turkey etc will have no problem.

I guess if you have many passports to do a visa on then cost can add up.

You have to pay up-front, online, using your Debit card. There is no avoiding bank charges as well as the exchange rate that "the bank" see fit to levy.

Just to be clear and as I understand, you also have the option to pay by a credit card & not only a Debit card. and depending on the credit card you use, you can avoid the charges/non sterling transaction fees and have near inter-bank rate thus, minimising the overall foreign transaction cost.

Paying by credit card also means you do not pay the bank charges/fees AND have the security of getting a refund if things go wrong.
Just be mindful and ensure you pay/clear your statement in full.
