So by saying Shahada you’re entering Islam again and you’re a believer. Because Shahada is from the heart, so you have to not do the other sins anyway for your Shahada to be sincere

The shahadah is repentance. One aspect of sincere repentance is to leave the sin and not return to it.

started a topic Shahada and Repentance

    Shahada and Repentance

    As-Salamu Alaykum brothers and sisters.

My question here is relating to the Shahada. Where one was a kafir/mushrik but then wanted to embrace/re-embrace Islam, how is one to go about repentance?

do you repent before taking the Shahada?
do you repent after taking the Shahada?
or is the Shahada itself the repentance?

I really want to know the answer to this as it is something that has crossed my mind and I can’t seem to grasp the answer

    Jazakallah Khair
