    dua for dead

can someone tell me if making dua for someone who has died will benefit them? i read "When a human being dies, all of his deeds are terminated except for three types: an ongoing sadaqah, a knowledge (of Islaam) from which others benefit, and a righteous child who makes du'aa for him." . so i just would like if someone could clear up if the dua will benefit them

Can't comment on the hadith you posted, but everyone accepts that you can and should make dua for the dead.

When the pious of the past are mentioned people usually say rahimahullah after their name, that is a dua.

Even the janaza prayer over the dead is a form of dua for the deceased.

Yes, make Dua'a for them. It's beneficial.

The hadith you posted is authentic.
