    The Benefits of Surah al-Waqi'ah

    :start:

Masruq said, "Whoever wants to know the news about the former and the later peoples, about the people of Paradise and the people of the Fire, and about the people of this world and the people of the next world, then let him recite Surah al-Waqi'ah."

(Related by al-Qurtubi in al-Jami' li Ahkam al-Qur'an)

'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud became sick, so 'Uthman visited him. They then had the following conversation.

'Uthman: What do you complain of?
    ibn Mas'ud: My sins.

    'Uthman: What do you desire?
ibn Mas'ud: The mercy of my Lord.

'Uthman: Shall I not call a doctor for you?
ibn Mas'ud: It is the doctor who has made me sick.

'Uthman: Shall I not order for you to be given a gift?
ibn Mas'ud: I have no need of it.

'Uthman: It will be for your daughters.
ibn Mas'ud: Do you fear poverty for my daughters? I have ordered them to recite Surah al-Waqi'ah in every night, for indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah :saw: say, "Whoever recites Surah al-Waqi'ah in every night, poverty will not ever afflict him."

(Related by ibn Hajr al-'Asqalani in Futuhat al-Rabbaniyyah. He graded this narration as ghareeb [scarce].)

It's a beautiful narration if you can read it in Arabic.

Many other muhaddithun narrated the words of Rasulullah :saw: mentioned above, and they graded that hadith as da'if [weak].
"And thus have We willed you to be a community of the middle way."
    (al-Baqarah: 143)

Allahumma innaa na'udhu bika min an nushrika bika shai-an na'lamuh; wa nastaghfiruka limaa laa na'lam.

What does that mean? Is it weak?
Secure few moments, everyday, to reflect upon the innumerable blessings of Allah and thank Him for bestowing them upon you.
