    Why do we do this?

If a brother asked "Whats the ruling on wearing the American European clothing (for men)? "suit & tie" or any other "western clothing"

Do you think he would say that is the clothing for the enemies of Islam, the crusaders, the kuffar?

      Lol.
You think you know more than my scholar's qiyās? He was more learned than you and all other scholars combined. Yeah, the devil was the greatest scholar too and look where his qiyās of fire being better than tīn got him. Sorry.

You follow your scholar's qiyās, and I will follow the Qur'ān and Sunnah.

Make a note of that sheikh's name so that we know to not accept fatwas from him.

but, if you know little about your islam, then you tend to follow any "tom joe or harry" who sounds good, whether sheikh, scholar or just a cool preacher

That's true but that's why it's every muslims responsibility to learn on your own as well. If thjey have sincere intentions, Allah will not misguide someone.
