It is is allowed Islamically and there is no proof it isn't, but it sohuld be treated well and all that obviously...

If it was cruel the then Prophet(saw) would have stopped it. He saw people keeping birds in cages and allowed it, and even comforted a boy whose bird had died. Animals were created by Allah for a reason and He put us humans in charge of them, and it's not haraam to use them as long as they aren't hurt or mistreated.

personally, i think its cruel to cage up something that is meant to fly. maybe to just enjoy it for awhile as a pet or to nurse an injured bird back to health..but eventually let it go again. Allah gave them wings for a reason.

just watch some animal documentaries, they don't cost money to feed or poop all over the place.

That sounds so cool, I wouldn't mind having a little pet bird, but animals in general just freak me out.

Family used to have a pet of couple of birds for many years, until both of them died. :(

Now if I wanna have a pet, it might be fish. I actually want a puppy or a dog more, but it's haraam unfortunately.

I have a small white canary! Yeah I would After some time probably let it go! But for now I will take care of it :) I'm thinking of buying another canary so it isn't lonely D: <3
