    No.

Again, why do you not see that whatever has come his way, only Allah can relieve him.

I'm looking for specific evidence in how one should deal with the matter. Stealing completely rips whatever the Qur'an says about enduring hardship.
    8 powerful habits to succeed

    1. Wake up early!
    2. Do it as soon as possible, you could die tonight so make the best of today
    3. Remember your life is unique, don't compare yourself to others. Use that jealousy as an energy to make your life a success"
    4. Have healthy habits. Set a time each day to exercise. Try with the mindset you're only going to do some jumping jacks for 5 seconds and the next thing you know, you're doing a workout!
    5. Read, read, read. Ponder over the Qur'an, learn more. Put the idiot box (TV) away
    6. Take note. Desires make slaves out of kings and patience makes kings out of slaves.
    7. Results aren't just worldly. Results are also about perseverance, retaining dignity, being honest, being honourable, doing good unto others.
    8. Always encourage others especially our brothers and sisters, let them know making mistakes is okay, we all make mistakes, do not ever undermine them and make them feel incompetent. This id also true for the dunya, so what if they don't get the maths sum right the first time, that is what LEARNING is.

Armchair discussions debating the legality of theft isn't really a good response to such an enormous tragedy..

Lets all make dua instead that Allah forgives all of us, and helps them in their situation..and may Allah safeguard us all from such tragedies!

If you think they're wrong, stop publicly berating them and rather make dua that Allah guides them. Your public berating will do no good, whilst your duas will have a massive positive effect.

And when it is said unto them: believe as the people believe, they say: Shall we believe as the foolish believe? Beware! They indeed are the foolish? But they know not.

Allah swt is merciful and the maximum punishment is not always applied.

Islam never prescribes punishments haphazardly nor does it execute these without due consideration. In this respect Islam has a unique theory which combines the best of both worlds: the communist as well as the individualistic theories. Islam holds the balance of justice in the right manner and insists on examining all conditions and circumstances connected with the offence. On studying a crime Islam takes into account two considerations at the same time; the viewpoint of the criminal and that of the community against which aggression took place. In the light of such considerations Islam prescribes the fair punishment which is in accordance with the dictates of sound logic and wise reasoning and which must not be affected by delinquent theories and national or individual whims.
Islam imposes preventive punishments which may appear cruel or coarse if viewed superficially or without proper consideration. But Islam does not execute such punishments unless it ascertains that the crime was not justifiable or that the criminal was not acting under any obligation.
Islam prescribes that a thief's hand should be cut, but such punishment is never inflicted where there is the slightest doubt that, he thief was impelled to crime by hunger.

You are not here just to fill space or to be a background character in someone else's movie. Consider this: nothing would be the same if you did not exist. Every place you have ever been and everyone you have ever spoken to would be different without you. We are all connected, and we are all affected by the decisions and even the existence of those around us.

              Of course I would agree.

Cutting a hand only comes into account when the theft amounts to a £100 or above.

So whoever stole Bernie Ecclestone's watch, was not doing it out of hunger but pure greed. He would be accounted for such a punishment to happen.

But if someone stole a loaf of bread, even if he was not hungry, he would not be having anything cut.

Good God, some of you guys really need to become a bit more open minded. You really think Allah is going to punish someone for stealing if they find themselves ruined by a typhoon and can't find anything to eat? What if they have a family? What if they have young kids? Isn't He the Most Compassionate and Merciful?

Sitting in our comfy chairs and debating the merits of stealing whilst in a life/death situation is all well and good until we end up in a situation like that ourselves (God forbid)

I'm not berating. I was just curious. Quit judging.

Now you say du'a does massive benefit. That's an option, surely?

Doesn't matter who 'made' it. You can't just sit there, waiting for food to drop from the sky especially in a situation where you have a family. It's different if you're getting aid and you're getting your fair share of food, then stealing is wrong. But if you have absolutely nothing then you can't hold it against them.

So why does the Qur'an say, you can get help ''from sources you cannot imagine''?

It's entirely possible for a Muslim to believe in food 'dropping from the sky'. Gold did in the shape of locusts for Prophet Job. Fruits that were not in season were delivered to Mary.

Come on, be serious here. 10,000 people were killed in this typhoon. Children are starving. There are no prophets involved. If food was going to fall from the sky, it should have done a long time ago.

                                8 powerful habits to succeed

                                1. Wake up early!
                                2. Do it as soon as possible, you could die tonight so make the best of today
                                3. Remember your life is unique, don't compare yourself to others. Use that jealousy as an energy to make your life a success"
                                4. Have healthy habits. Set a time each day to exercise. Try with the mindset you're only going to do some jumping jacks for 5 seconds and the next thing you know, you're doing a workout!
                                5. Read, read, read. Ponder over the Qur'an, learn more. Put the idiot box (TV) away
                                6. Take note. Desires make slaves out of kings and patience makes kings out of slaves.
                                7. Results aren't just worldly. Results are also about perseverance, retaining dignity, being honest, being honourable, doing good unto others.
                                8. Always encourage others especially our brothers and sisters, let them know making mistakes is okay, we all make mistakes, do not ever undermine them and make them feel incompetent. This id also true for the dunya, so what if they don't get the maths sum right the first time, that is what LEARNING is.
