who knows about Shaykh Hasan Ali of Hikmah website

http://www.hikmah.co.uk/

I was watching one of his lectures where someone asked him about difference between Deobandi & Barelvi, and he calls himself Deobandi and said there is no difference between both groups and only 3 major differences and then he said he cleared those 3 differences with a Barelvi Sheikh (by the name of Jamshed)...

The confusing part is, if there is no difference at all and those 3 differences were cleared like whether Prophet Muhammad :saw: was a NOOR or not had knowledge of all the unseen or not etc. then why the fuss? I was not convinced by his approach, yes there are extremists on each side but to say there is practically no difference at all between both groups does not make much sense.....

Does anyone know about this Sheikh? How is he? I am not asking for Gheebah (backbiting) just some general info about him......

Guess he's just tryin to keep the peace, though if that is a commendable thing or not can be debated.

That is incorrect as far as I know. Deobandis believe that Nabi(SAW) is human and "alive" in his grave. Alive in this case would need definition from one with more knowledge than I.
By Him in whose Hand is the Soul of Muhammad, there is not one from the nations of the Jews and the Christians who hears about me and then dies while he has not believed in what I have been sent with except that he will be one of the companions of the Fire”. Maybe we should read Nashar ut-Tib by Ashraf Ali Thanvi and Musannaf Abdur Razaq.

Something similar was discussed here: http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...muhammad-s.a.w

Probably best to ask a scholar you trust.

The bodies of the shuhadaa and prophets do not rot.

The shuhadaa are alive....

Maybe someone else can clarify the Messenger saaw being alive.

Re: who knows about Shaykh Hasan Ali of Hikmah website

A quick google gives us: http://www.islamcollege.co.uk/Shaykh_Hasan_Ali.html

Shaykh Hasan Ali
London

Sheikh Hasan was born and brought up in the West Midlands of England and his early years were spent in secular education in state schools. At the age of fourteen he embarked upon studying Islamic sciences at traditional boarding schools in the UK. First he memorised the Qur'an during GCSE studies and then began to learn the Arabic language together with many other sciences (known as theDars Nizami)

In 1997, after nine years of studying in boarding schools and graduating with an Aalimiyyah (MA Islamic Studies) he became the Imam of London Islamic Cultural Society in North London (www.lics.info). Here, he served the community for several years by holding several classes in addition to the duties of an Imam. These classes consisted of Tafseer, Hadith, Arabic, Tajweed etc and were taught to all age groups.

During his post as Imam at LICS, Sheikh Hasan Ali also set up Safar Academy (www.safar.org.uk), a weekend Islamic School. To this date he is still actively involved in teaching and running the school. The school currently has 17 members of staff and 250 students (between the age of 6-16) who are taught Tajweed, Fiqh, Islamic General Knowledge, Aqeedah and Quranic Arabic. The Sheikh is currently authoring a syllabus for such Islamic schools (makatib).

Between 2000 and 2003 he was the Imam, Head of Islamic Studies and Head of Arabic Studies and a member of the school's Senior Management Team at Yusuf Islam's Brondesbury College for Boys in Kilburn, North London. The Sheikh, here, devised an entire Islamic Syllabus for this secondary school and also contributed largely to the gapping of the physical and spiritual life of both staff and students.

In March 2003, together with other educationalists, he set up the Ebrahim Community College in East London where he is serving as the Director of Human Resources and also teaches A Level Religious Studies, Philosophy of Religion, Usul al-Fiqh, Translation of the Quran in English and Seerah.

In 2006 he completed a MA in Education (Psychology) at the Institute of Education, University of London. Furthermore, he is the Senior Religious Advisor for Media4insight and we would like to take the opportunity here to thank the Sheikh for his invaluable time and his intuitive vision.

His upbringing in the UK combined with his knowledge of Islamic and Western Sciences makes him a unique and inspiring lecturer. Consequently, in his talks to Muslims and interfaith work with non-Muslims he focuses on real issues concerning Muslims and non-Muslims alike and desires a positive change in the lives of people. He wants Muslims to advance in all aspects of their lives and be models as individuals in society, in their homes and at their workplace representing a true and pure image of Islam.

He has lectured on a wide range of inspiring and relevant topics throughout mosques, universities, colleges and in the media both in the UK and abroad including Belgium, Holland, Trinidad & Tobago, United Arab Emirates among other countries.

The "human rights" connection and such like might make him choose less milatant words when talking about other groups, Allahu Alam.
By Him in whose Hand is the Soul of Muhammad, there is not one from the nations of the Jews and the Christians who hears about me and then dies while he has not believed in what I have been sent with except that he will be one of the companions of the Fire”. Hikmah has several Imams that give talks on there, including the Mufti from my local mosque. To be honest I disagree with some of the things certain Mufti's say. Don't get me wrong I'm not claiming to have more knowledge than them, but when a Scholar for example says something like "It doesn't say anything in the Quran or Hadith but I think the world is xxxxxx years old" I don't feel obligated to agree. Especially when Carbon dating proves their "best guess" wrong. I don't mean to derail the thread just making my position of "taking what is good, and leaving what isn't" clear.

The websites I have listed are all of benefit and I would recommend them. That doesn't mean I agree with everything every imam on all of those sites has said. If that makes sense. :P
