From what I've heard, his books are more cultural than authentic, as explained in the Sunni Path link above.

strange if you think that bilal philips is not salafi... even stranger if you think that the deobandi 'cultists', the first people to make dar al islam in nearly 25 years should be left to their books... but anyway the truth is evident for people with knowledge ...

maybe thats what med was talking about in the other thread... how some salafis are confused in their stance on the taliban... on the one hand they are deobandi, on the other hand they made dar al islam... what is a 'salafi' supposed to do...

Sorry to Hijak your thread brother, but I wanna see if you people of the ummah forum think Mufti Ebrahim Desai is a good scholar to use when researching islam?

I think people should refrain from using the word 'cultist' (for certain Muslim sects).

sister hating a muslim is kufr and i dont hate any muslim. fact is as we can see in this thread, that the ppl who follow deoband school ( circa 1866 ce.) will never accept that there is any mistake in their books, or from the deoband shayookh, this is where the cult mentality comes in.

for the record im not a sufi, deonbandi, or salafi either.
"O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you swerve, and if you distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do." [An-Nisa 4:135]

                          The Prophet :saw: said:

"Whosoever leaves off obedience and separates from the Jamaa'ah and dies, he dies a death of jaahiliyyah. Whoever fights under the banner of the blind, becoming angry for 'asabiyyah (nationalism/tribalism/partisanship) or calling to 'asabiyyah, or assisting 'asabiyyah, then dies, he dies a death of jaahiliyyah."

                          Narrated 'Abdullah:

The Prophet, said, "Abusing a Muslim is Fusuq (evil doing) and killing him is Kufr (disbelief)." sahih bukhari

"Creeping upon you is the diseases of those people before you: envy and hatred. And hatred is the thing that shaves. I do not say it shaves the hair but it shaves the religion!

By the One in whose Hand is my soul, you will not enter paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Certainly, let me inform you of that which may establish such things: spread the greetings and peace among yourselves."

[Recorded by Imam Ahmad and Al-Tirmidhi]

I read somewhere on this forum (or sunniforum) that it was clearly in the context of the dream. meaning you cant be responsible for what happens in your dream, obviously he wasnt saying its okay to consciously utter kufr statements
