    How to pronounce "As-Salamu Alaykum"

    I am a new revert, and I have wondered... how do you pronounce "As-Salamu Alaykum" to a fellow Muslim?

    as [as in christmAS]
    salaam [prolonged 'aam']
    alay [as in 'ALLAY']
    kum [as in kom]

        It's got an 3ayn in it, if you know any native speakers of Arabic then ask them to teach you how to say it. Most non Arabs say it wrong (3ayn is not an easy letter to pronounce!) - otherwise pronounce it as detailed above in TariqIbnKhattab's post

              People will say it differently. You can search on YouTube and listen to how it is pronounced. Everyone has regional dialects and accents therefore it will sound differently from person:-

              1 Who lives in Yorkshire who will say (Aaaslaaamuew alaaaykum) They have the weirdest accents if I ever heard one. To

              2) A native Arab who will pronounce it correctly with tajweed.
