The Good, The Bad and The Buddha

    Assalamu Alaikum brothers and sisters,

Have a look at an amazing picture of the buddha being destroyed by the Taliban. Allahu Akbar!

A huge source of disbelief destroyed and the kufr cried over it on and on.

a huge source of disbelief ... a statue ... amazing

who was vulnerable to such a thing? afghan muslims? arab muslims in afghanistan? both?

must be terrible to have such a delicate faith.

they are rebuilding an ancient greek temple in lebanon right now ... someone better go there and blow it up before every one converts to the pagan woship of ancient greece.

Not all Muslims have a faith made of glass. Some admire the work and dedication that went into those beautiful statues. Each of those statues was a testament to human perseverance and strength. Each one destroyed was a monument to the arrogance and narcissism of Osama Bin Laden.

Muslims have been the stewards of culture for thousands of years. When others were destroying artificats, the Muslims were protecting them. But Osama Bin Laden is not a true Muslim. He is a mad man that is only intent on power.

Uh, so then you wouldn't have any problem with the buddhist destroying the 'Black Box' in Mecca then either, would you. Seeing as they don't believe in Islam? Right? Now before you decide to flame me, please realize I'm not suggesting this should be done. I'd just like to hear you complete your own little circle of hypocrisy...

damn right we have to destroy idols. Idolatry is not allowed in Islam.

How the heck will buddist come to Mecca to destroy it?

When the buddist left afghanistan they should have taken their statue with them.

I admit rabidarab, my sarcasm may have been a little too strong. It is true, that those that are secure and true in their faith have no need to destroy others'.

I saw a program on the ppl who live in that area of afghanistan. Apparently another very small ethnic minority who were very much under pressure from the Taliban. I would suggest that perhaps the true reason for the destruction of the monument was more of a message to them than anything. A message, i might add, that didnt get thru.

Salam, peace to all. An interesting perspective on the matter:

Just another excuse to blow things up, IMO. Now, archeologists years from now will have never discovered it, and percieve Muslims as jealous destructive fools. Nice going, Taliban

The people that blew this up may have 'had the right' to do it under Islamic law, but that doesn't mean it was out of complete disrespect for other cultures.

We thoroughly discussed this on the old forum....

Nobody cares that the statues were Buddhist idols. Nobody cares what religion they were. They are part of world history.

I do remember one joke from the old forum. It was somethin' like...

"What did they use to destroy them? Mortar, passenger jet, or suicide bomber?"

(Take it easy, that's just a joke).

True, and he's done more to set back the cause of Muslims in the Middle East than any other person in recent history. What's happening in Israel is something that needs the world's attention right now and this fool with his ability to "incite" attacking ANYTHING that is "un-Islamic" created the opposite environment needed to solve the complexity of the present situation.

here is the REAL reason the taliban destroyed the buddha:

several europeans cam to afghanistan to re-build the statues. They donated $2m to the taliban to rebuild them. The tliban refused to spend the money on the statues as people were starving.... the europeans would not let them spend then spend the cash on food.... so they gave the money back and blew up the statues to teach em a lesson.... after the taliban left, the euros came back and are now rebuilding the statues at the the cost of $5m.... while afghans starve!!! (the aid promised to afghanistan will not be given until a stable governemt is on place)

Condoning violence is unacceptable. Peace is the only way the world will respect Muslims not barbarism.

idols should be demolished doesn't matter who build it or how much people's sentiments are attached to it . Under Muslim power they all should be leveled
