Aren't we supposed to have a small do. These days in England there's people hiring out cars and blasting music out... that is totally wrong. I didn't have anyone at my wedding apart from the two male witnesses. I wanted as simple as possible... it was the best day of my life. You don't need a huge wedding or expensive things... what really matters is your nikah and your love for each other.

I got married back in my homeland over a year ago. My family and my husband's family spent lots of money for our big wedding, we had everything from a hotel to a limousine.
Now that I look at it, I wish we had rent a small but beautiful place by the beach and have a normal wedding with not more than 20 people all family and close friends. It would have been wonderful.
And we could have saved money and went on a beautiful trip just the two of us. So I kind of regret of having a big wedding, because 200 people and big cakes and limousines dont make the wedding, but you and the people you love do. :) So If you'd ask me, it's better to have a small wedding and It can also be a wonderful memory.

Spending 2k on something you're going to wear once is probably too much!! Unless you're going to sell it on

I would like a small wedding insha'Allah but it's probably gonna end up being massive because my parents have like a million and one "relatives" -___-

the Islamic wedding is simplistic, but nowadays people have a big wedding, really spending 5k but show off that they spent 20k. personally, I would have a medium sized wedding, to keep everyone happy, have a nice dress for my husband, and a walima is good as its a sunnah, but that's the guy's side choice as it's their money. I would even have one big day, where the walima part is for the guys side to pay for the catering and that's it. It all comes down to the marriage, where you can plan and share you future together, with the person you love, have and raise children etc.
