  • Are you even allowed to marry a secular muslim?

I'm talking about those who don't pray and only celebrate eid & ramadan. They disagree with some parts of Sharia but still call themselves Muslims. In my family they don't even care if the spouses pray and allow their daughters and sons to marry them.

These are issues of importance on the level of kufr or emaan, of-course you cannot marry such an individual.

Doesn't pray, don't care if they pray, disagrees with parts of the Shariah?

          You've described a Kaafir.

          Which automatically rules them out

We marry muslims with good character,

Not Kuffar with screw loose tendencies, they are Forbidden for us

I don't think anyone should marry an individual who doesn't pray.

              Yes your correct ukthi,

That is a serious deffeiency in Deen,

We're supposed to marry practising Muslims,

Based on precaution, it is better to refrain from marrying a secular Muslim, a woman with deen would help her husband get closer to Allah, will nurture their children as righteous children.
We sometimes think that if we do marry a non-practicing Muslim, perhaps they could receive guidance through us, but we know not what the future holds, what if they divert us to what they are upon? Cant afford to take that risk! Our beloved Prophet :saw: said "Marry one for her deen" - nuf said!
“Mu'min” is more that just a title. It is to have Imaan established in the heart and testified to by the limbs.

You'd probably couldn't even if you tried. Secular people only want people like them.

As a matter or principle its not a good idea. If you are practising then it will just cause conflcits because of fundamentally different mentality and your kids would be confused.

Doesn't sound best honestly. You should marry someone who encourages you to be a better Muslim. Imagine having kids who grow up believing they don't have to pray :/

                            Not unless you're also secular.

There's no such thing as a secular muslim ... you're either Muslim or you're not ... if a person rejected parts of the shariah then they would have committed kufr and by doing so have left the folds of Islam

would such a marriage even be valid

                              steer well clear
