  • intercultural marriage in the Qur'an

    :salams

Something interesting from Imam Omar Suleiman

"You know that verse of Quran thats on every Muslim wedding invitation? The one that goes:

"And of His signs is that He created for you from amongst yourselves spouses that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and love. Indeed in that is a sign for people who reflect." (Surah Rum 30:21)

Interestingly enough, look at the verse before and after it:

"And of His signs is that He created you from dirt; then suddenly you were human beings dispersing throughout the earth." (30:20)

"And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed in that are signs for people of knowledge." (30:22)

How amazing is it that the verse of marriage is placed between a verse which condemns racism and a verse which says that our diversity of languages and colors is a blessing from Allah.

Coincidence? I think not. The sequence of the verses flows with divine wisdom. "

Thank you for sharing. Jazakallahu ghairan.
Forgiving others is not a weakness.
It takes a strong person to forgive.

Too bad there's too much disease in the hearts of many Muslims to see past the differences.

              :masha:
Life's actually pretty simple: you just have to enjoy it, pray, do good, refrain from bad, and respect others. Being Muslim is not a disadvantage or an advantage - it's a responsibility.
"So patiently persevere: for verily the promise of Allah is true" (Qur'an, Surah Ar-Rum - 30:60)

but if we all did that there wouldn't be any diversity, we'd all look Brazilian. LOL
