There is not going to be a mass exodus from the West. Muslims have no private universities. This can't be solved by staying at home and being a housewife. This a community problem staying home and being a housewife solves a personal problem not a community level one
I don't see how a woman choosing not to get a university degree will be poor at educating her children.

I have been to university myself and the knowledge you gain is not the level you will be teaching your children. Its too advanced.

If you want a wife that has the knowledge to teach the children the secular subjects then make sure she has decent GCSEs. Having a degree is irrelevant for this task.

A Sister who hasn't gone to university is not uneducated. They don't need a bit of paper to tell them they are intelligent. I didn't go to university and I dropped out of college when I was doing my a levels... why would I want to expose myself to that sort of environment. I'm not uneducated in the slightest. Islamic education is more important than secular education. For every single aspect of our lives Islam has the answer. That fact I didn't go to university means that I won't be able to educate my children? No.
I think its great if people say islamic knowledge is more important. Then my question is to those housewives what have you actually studied in the last 5 years?

A mother needs to teach her children and if Islam is more important why are there so few muslim woman who have studied to a decent level.

we live in a different time from the prophet pbuh and certain parts of fiqh are time dependant.

I want my daughter to go a girls school. I want her to go to a female dr. I want her to do what she loves if the sharia permits it.

What's a guy to do? He has no choice but to continue on that path in, undergo that environment, in order to get a job to provide. A sister has the option of choosing to or not.

Re: Brothers: Would you pay off your wife's student loan?

A husband is not obliged to pay for the loans that his wife enccured before he married her.

However, a number of friends of mine had their loans paid of by their husbands. Alh their husbands were wealthy so they could do it. Plus, their reasoning was, the reason why there weren't working is cos, they were raising their kids or had moved away from their jobs to support their husbands careers.

On a general note, I believe that if the husband (or wife), was of a wealthy means, they wouldn't leave their partner in debt.

It could be an act of charity, if you can afford it. Prior to being a Muslim, I too had student loans. My husband mashaAllah has helped with payments, as he doesn't want to see me go into default. In the USA, there is virtually no getting out of student loans, unles you die, become insane, or other extrmeme cases. You can't file bankrupcy and get out of it. I'm surprised they don't have debtors prisons .

You are not here just to fill space or to be a background character in someone else's movie. Consider this: nothing would be the same if you did not exist. Every place you have ever been and everyone you have ever spoken to would be different without you. We are all connected, and we are all affected by the decisions and even the existence of those around us.

                              I was wondering about this.

If you married a sister and she had a student loan, would you help her pay it off?

Keep in mind many sisters take such a loan to go to university and then get married afterwards and so won't be working. This means they won't be able to clear this debt and will be stuck with it.
                              wailkumusalam warahamtullah,

You know them people who come on here and say - what the women earns is hers and she doesn't(and people on here say shouldn't) share with her husband - and then we have another type of people who say a women is not a servant - her job is not to clean the house or cook the food - she should just sit in the house or you should get a maid

His job is to feed, provide, clothe and provide shelter - anything else - like paying of her loans - does it come under his islamic responsibility(I dont know)?

If I was being harsh then the above would count(so all those people reading, who do say the above, this is when it comes and bites ya back)

Ofc I would help her to pay it of inshAllah - But again imo a sister shouldn't be going to university unless she specialises - and if she does specialise in a proper subject - She would be able to pay them of herself anyway inshAllah(unless she decided after uni that she wants to be a housewife, which then ofc I would pay it all of for her)

My wife is an extension of me, therefore her burdens are my burdens. And of course i will do whatever to relieve her of a burden insha'Allah.
