A year into her marriage her husband pays off her debt so she can be a housewife. Why study for god knows how many years including residence to waste your talent as a female Muslim doctor? So ridiculous.

Another thing. How messed up is it to go through uni, accruing interest based debt without a care in the world, cause you're banking on your husband to pay it off for you (and potentially angering Allah in the process).

So people should not bother to be educated if they want to be a housewife?
Narrated by Anas ibn Malik RA: Allah's Messenger :saw: said. "When a woman observes the five times of prayer, fasts during Ramadan, preserves her chastity and obeys her husband, she may enter by any of the gates of Paradise she wishes."

A doctor is different to any type of education. We need doctors. Muslim female doctors especially. It is not a talent that should be thrown away and wasted. If you do not have the intention to use the skills you have learnt, then you shouldn't be spending tens of thousands of £'s. It's that simple. What benefit came out of her wasting all those years of her life and making her husband waste all of that money?

It says she's a mum. She could be a doctor or even a scientist with multiple PHDs, but once she has kids then this will all take second place to her child. Unless she's one of those mums who puts her career before her kids.

Okay i agree. But the person could plan to start practising when they have raised their family so it might not have been a waste

The post LondonGal was replying to was about potentials wanting their wife not to work regardless of kids after they marry but still wanting a degree. So your sad and emotional post about "children" is actually irrelevant.

I hope your not the type of guy to be crying about "gheerah" and how your wife gets treated by a man and then tell other Muslim female doctors to become housewives since their skills aren't needed and their "real profession" is "at their homes". Because that is the vibe im getting from most of you "men".

We don't live in the 7th century anymore. Children go to school from 8 am to 3pm, they go to after school clubs, madrassa etc as usual with most muslim families. But whatever, study for 8 years to become a doctor to not use your skill.

What's with aggressions? Relax.

I never ever said on this forum all women should be housewives and never work. We do need women in various sectors (e.g. doctors, teachers, nurses etc.) otherwise how would society work.

Also read LondonGals post again as the post you quoted was a specific case she was referring to. That doctor girl is in the second year of her marriage with a child. Of course she's going to be a SAHM, especially when her husband is a lawyer so there's no financial pressure on her to work.

Women with newborn children very rarely work. Even amongst the non-Muslims they take time out from work, and get things like maternity leave.

A Muslim woman, who has her priorities straight, isn't going to ditch her newborn child to a daycare so she can focus on her career.

its like asking brothers would you like to go to hellfire? a lot of the q posed to men/brothers are a bit silly. You're going to do many of those things whether you like it or not. So do we.

You discuss these things beforehand no? ask if their in debt, how much and what their plan is to pay it off.
