its like giving them free porn astagfrillah. this culture should not be practised by Muslims we should not give our children phones or PlayStations or laptops

its like setting them up for future failure.

only if you found a way to block dangerous websites. and also gaming should be minimalised and only 1 to 2 hours a day. or even better not at all.

Even if sites are blocked, that wouldn't prevent a pervert from sending naked images in the DMs, it wouldn't prevent a classmate from sexting them.

I don't want to sound melodramatic because we all want to hope that we raise sensible children that wouldn't get caught up in such things, but at the same time, such hope wont protect them from predators who are entering their bedroom (through the phone) often without us even knowing.

Your right that is why the solution is to not give minors cellphones until their matured adults who are chaste devout muslimeen in shaa ALLAH. I did not get a cellphone until i was 21 years old and i had needed it for my business ma shaa ALLAH.

What have you all done during lockdown ? That's if you had children ?
Many family's were stuck at home and had no choice but to use devices to do school work.

Perhaps a better idea is for restricted use...so can be used in the living room but can not take into bedroom

It should definitely be minimal, supervised and content controlled. Can't hide them from technology forever, they even use ipads in nursery and teach kids how to use google search etc it's part of ICT use

This is an interesting topic.... Obviously there's pros and cons to everything... Yes Internet give children access to the world right from their lap.

The thing is we have to look at the times we are living in righg now.... Im a mother of 2 girls... Both at school... So as you can imagine right now wer in homeschooling, so u tell me what am i supposed to do?

I don't want them on ipads n laptops but i have no choice, i sit with my youngest as she is in reception but my other daughter is in another room doing online work n live lessons.

Same with madressa... Its all via laptop.... Now as a parent yes it gets to me the amount of time their online n using Internet but i cant sit with them all through out the time their using devices.

As harsh as it sounds the reality is that this generation is growing up with technology... No matter how much we try to avoid it.

All we can do is pray and make dua that Allah swt protects our children, their imaan n keep them on siratul mustaqeem, Ameen

It's very possible to use the same technology to limit usage and sites visited.

The way i see it is that there has to be a balance especially with this generation, it not like in our times where you could play out till hours on end, now we have a fear of them being out too.

Technology is everywhere... Me personally i would rather give them access to laptops, phones etc cuz if we dont then they will look elsewhere... At least if i give them access i can keep an eye on them at the same time.
