  • Muslim Birthing Practice?'s

    Hello,

I am a nursing student, and am doing a presentation on cultural nursing, specifically Muslim practices related to childbirthing. I have tried numerous searches, and am having a difficult time finding some of the specifics I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated. First, what are some of the postpartum practices (confinement) that are typical? After birth, what is done with the placenta? Is there a gender preference, and if so what are the feelings towards it, along with birth defects? Is there a Hot/Cold theory, meaning it is not good to mix hot/cold situations? I am trying to further diversify my culture knowledge, and hope these questions do not offend anyone, once again, thanks for any info.

Our men usually eat the placenta...
