if the cultural practice is within the bounds of shariah then its fine. But when its not it shouldn't be practiced.

    to list a few..

    - my grandmother used cover her head with the sari and called it Hijab.
    - Dowry
    - honour killing
    - treating your wife as slaves.

it all depends on what the culture is... like for instance it is sunnah to wear a turban but wherever you go in the muslim world how they wear a turban is different meaning the style the length the body of the turban ... now this might seem trivial to u but is a cultural thing and is allowed... also like in some countries due to the culture the muslims are more adherent to some sunnahs more then others like for instance the sunnah of femal circumcision is widespread is n africa and the arab world but not so much in the asian or central asian muslim world... it all depends but when it comes to haram culture like racism and non marriage between different chastes or like hindu culture of husband and sister in law chilling and like shaking hands then that is haram... or the british culture of feminism etc that also is haram...
