    Very well said my brother. Reminds me of two verses from the Holy Qur'an:

    Have you considered him who has taken his whims and desires for his god? Then Allah knowingly allows him to stray, sealing his hearing and his heart, and has placed a veil over his vision. So who can guide him after Allah? Will you not reflect? - 45:23

    and:

    Who is more misguided than someone who follows his own lust & desires without having any guidance from Allah? Allah does not guide wrongdoing folk. 28:50

    True freedom is and happiness is attained by worshiping Allah as best as you can, and being the best person you are able to. A study recently found out that altruistic individuals experience a sense of fulfillment and happiness that others yearn for: the secret to happiness is helping others. This what exactly what Islam teaches and encourages us Muslims to follow and do. Look at the examples of the companions of the Prophet, etc. They went above and beyond to help others.

    May Allah protect us all from our own selfish and destructive lusts & desires. Amen.

    Real freedom is Islam. As it widens our horizons not only to the dunya but the akhira too!

    Freedom of speech is what we should understand.{hope my thread is not trolling}
    Tolerance is what we should understand(hope saying No to Gayism should not be a banned statement for muslims)
    Presumption of Innocence(not going to be defensive abt me being MUSLIM)

    Islamic Reminder of prophet Muhammad (sallallahi wasallam)'s who was guided by Allah (rabbul alamin) contribution to the modern progressive world

    What is freedom? A thought

    What constitutes true freedom? Let's look at the 'West' for example.

    The belief that the West is "free" is a misconception. First, we must define what "freedom" and being "free" are. It is true that the West has less governmental restrictions than non-Western countries, and that is one idea of freedom. But there are freedoms from other problems in life that the West has failed to achieve. Thus, what has replaced governmental interference as the source of lack-of-freedom? Hedonism.

    The population of the West, like other nations, despite calling themselves "free" and despite being free from government interference, are shackled by the bonds of materialism, consumerism, greed, covetousness, lust, sexual addiction, drug addiction, and lack of any kind of moral restrictions. An unrestricted indulgence in sensual gratification under the guise of "freedom" has torn apart families and lead to the governmental looting of the citizens. Alcoholism, drug addiction, and sexual indulgence have become the new norm, with many Westerners believing this to be "freedom" that "isn't hurting anyone", while although not inflicting physical damage onto others, these actions have tremendous consequences on family, state, and social life.

    Thus, having succumbed to the darker forces of nature, and being slaves to lust and desire, the minds of most Westerners are overwhelmed with anxiety, anger, hatred, and an unquenchable desire to satisfy their carnal desires.

    This is not real "freedom". However, one with a pure, chaste mind, modest behavior, and who controls his sense organs, at least achieves real happiness, inner peace, and freedom from suffering which is what Islam promotes & stands for.

    May Allah guide us well to a healthy and a peaceful lifestyle.
