  • Regarding Mandatory Shower

    As Salaamu 'Alaikum, brothers.

I do not know how to say, but, this morning when I was preparing to go to work, I realized that it was mandatory for me to take a Fard (mandatory) shower. But, I did not have much time as I was getting late for work. So, I went to the toilet in a hurry, used water to clean up but did not take a shower. Then I went to work.

I am at work now. I am thinking about what to do about Duhr and Asr prayers. Am I allowed to pray?

Kindly share some Quranic and/or Sunnah references about what to do now.

    Thanks, brothers.

But, one mandatory part is to ensure that the whole body is wiped with water.

you should have done it even if it meant being late for work; salaah and it's necessities takes precedent over work, but now if you cannot take a gusl, then if the prayer is going to be postponed then you can do tayamum and do the prayer

just to be on the safe side, do a tayumum for gusl and wudhu [i.e do wudhu after the tayumum] and then salah

Since when can you do tayammum if water is available?

                  ...and?

The clue is in the word 'mandatory'.

                    Re: Regarding Mandatory Shower

You should have done it before you left. Seeing as you didn't, you should have gone home, eg during your lunch hour, and done ghusl then. You could have even done it, all be it awkwardly, in a disabled bathroom in your workplace. I don't think there was anything really preventing you from doing it, especially when you realise how big a calamity it is to purposefully miss a prayer.

If the water would harm you.
You think you know more than my scholar's qiyās? He was more learned than you and all other scholars combined. Yeah, the devil was the greatest scholar too and look where his qiyās of fire being better than tīn got him. Sorry.

You follow your scholar's qiyās, and I will follow the Qur'ān and Sunnah.

OK, Einstein, but the context here is choice not necessity.

If ghusl is required, does one have the option of doing tayammum?
