"There will never cease to remain a group from my Ummah fighting upon the command of Allah, subjugating their enemies. They are not harmed by those who oppose them, until the Hour arrives".
I have no idea. Allah (swt) knows best but it really wouldn't surprise me if people in those days were able to make wooden spoons (known as 'doi' in my parents' language). Yes it's sunnah to eat with hands but even so, it's useful to have spoons and other utensils to stir cooking pots. That's aside from the fact that they knew enough about metals to be able to fashion them into swords and knives.
This is why I was saying on my show that it's a really bad thing that the Saudis are demolishing the homes of the Sahaba (ra) in Mecca because these places are part of our heritage- they are trying to erase our history. Any other culture would've preserved it or at least allowed it to be displayed as a museum exhibit just so that people visiting the city can gain some perspective of how people in those days lived.
